Crowdsourcing, social media and GWR for Cultural Ecosystem Services

Ever wondered what and why makes visitors to stop somewhere, take photos and upload them to Flickr? Wonder no more, here’s our new paper with a spatial analysis of Flickr data from the Vercors Regional Natural Park in France:

Tenerelli P, Demšar U and Luque S, 2016, Crowdsourcing indicators for cultural ecosystem services: a geographically weighted approach for mountain landscapes. Ecological Indicators, Advanced Online Publication.

This is the first time a spatial statistical methodology, GWR, has been used for evaluation of Ecosystem services and we got some really interesting results. Exciting!

The paper is available for free until 11 March 2016, courtesy of Elsevier, so check it out.
